Torphins Woodland Wonderland
Coming back This Christmas!
Following last year's success, we hope to repeat the event this winter. If you have any ideas or suggestions for how to improve the event we would be delighted to hear from your--- click here
When the village was in lockdown over the Christmas period we had the idea to illuminate a section of the Torphins Woods, creating a Woodland Wonderland.
The core funding for the event was crowd sourced from within the community. However, generous assistance from The Learney Estate, Foundation Scotland Resilience Fund and local businesses helped to make the event a huge success.
Care was taken to ensure COVID safety by marshalling visitors through a one way system, providing more than adequate separation between family groups.
From the outset we took advice on environmental impact, particularly the potential impact on the local fauna. The advice was reassuring- there was little prospect of an adverse impact, given certain precautions. You can read a summary of the environmental impact report here.
The event was enjoyed by more than 2000 people over a 6 week period, and feedback was hugely positive.
